CAMP BLOOD & PAINTER SPEAKS

The Christchurch Art Gallery Outer Spaces program - in connection with the CAG's Birthday is showing, from Friday 10th May–Sunday 23rd June, a selection of my hand-painted African movie poster collection at the C1 Building @ 209 Tuam Street. In the adjoining room (same dates, same floor) you can catch Hell Gallery's Jess Johnson's retinally fascinating, sui generis, works. Although her work doesn't look like the Hairy Who...such as  Karl Wirsum or Jim Nutt, her stuff is just as 'tuff' as those two and would feel right at home in southside Chicago.

Around town elsewhere - here and there - you'll see the leering heads and landscapes of the Painter Speaks series. In late July some of the Painter Speaks heads will be traveling to Bath Street Gallery, Auckland where they'll meet up with the entire (13 paintings) compliment of the Rock to Hide My Face cohort....compliments of Suite Gallery, Wellington.
